Birthday Party Ideas for Twins

Here are some easy, but fun ideas for planning a birthday party specific to twins. Once you decide on a theme, the best resource is the internet for inspiration on decorations, cakes, favors, etc. Remember have fun and get creative. You could have enjoyed an Awesome Casino Night Co in Denver but this calls for something unique. 

Noah’s Ark – The theme of “two by two” is perfect for a twin party and doesn’t matter whether your twins are the same sex twins or boy/girl. This theme is easy to create and the kids will love it. Make an ark out of cardboard boxes and fill it with all those stuffed animals you have lying around the house. Hang some of the stuffed animals from the ceiling or from trees, if the party will be outside. Oriental Trading sells a ton of reasonably priced animal related items that can be used for party decorations and favors such as inflatable animals, beach ball shaped animals, bubbles with animal lids, animal hats, animal lollipops etc. For added fun, get creative with the food. Make animal shaped sandwiches using cookie cutters. Of course, make a fun cake shaped like an animal or in an ark shape and decorate with animal cookies or animal figurines.

Mickey and Minnie mouse – Set the theme of the party through a Mickey/Minnie shaped invitation by including “Experience the magic at….” Make centerpieces and decorate using Disney clip art. Use traditional Mickey/Minnie colors for balloons, i.e. red, black, yellow and white. Hand out mouse ears for everyone to wear. There are lots of ideas on the internet for Mickey and Minnie mouse cakes.

Raggedy Ann and Andy – This is a fun theme for boy/girl twins. Decorate with red, blue and white balloons and streamers. Have the kids play pin the heart on Raggedy Ann and Andy.

Thing one and Thing Two (Dr. Seuss) – Look for Thing One and Thing Two party decorations to carry out your theme. Theme colors are light blue, white and red. Around the room, place glass containers or fish bowls filled with red, white and light blue stones/marbles.

Peas in a Pod – Purchase the Peas in a pod paper goods and decorate your space with different shades of green and white.

Elmo and Abby or Grover and Cookie Monster (Sesame Street) – Great theme for young twins. Decorate with lots of Sesame street characters, balloons, streamers, and banners.

Dora and Diego -Great theme for twins who love treasure hunts with maps, learning about animals and adventure

Prince and Princess – This is another great ideas for boy/girl twins. Let your twins feel like royalty today and of course, don’t forget about making them great crowns.

Opposites – This is such an easy theme and there are so many things to do as far as the decorations, and food. For example, make one chocolate cake with white frosting and one white cake with chocolate icing.

Tinker Bell and Peter Pan – Make a “Welcome to Neverland” sign for the front door. Decorate the party area like a beautiful forest with purple, green and yellow flowers, plants and vines. String Christmas lights around the table intertwined with artificial vines and flowers. Give out fairy wings and wands to the girls and foam swords to the boys.

Favorite colors – Use each twin’s favorite color and decorate the venue with those colors. Alternate place settings with plates/napkins/utensils in each color, make two cakes in shades of each twin’s color, don’t forget about the streamers and balloons, and most of all, just have fun, there is so much that can be done.
